In this episode, we bring forward another Resourceful Woman in Mining: Janessa Kosar North, who will soon host the New Indigenous Miner Podcast on the Prospector News Channel. We’ll discuss how Indigenous–industry partnerships are built in real relationships, unseen meetings, and everyday choices.
I’m joined by Kiciwapa Cree Nation CEO and Mamawewin Productions Corp.’s Janessa Kosar North, to talk about how nation led media and engagement are reshaping mining relationships in places like Flin Flon and Snow Lake. We explore what meaningful consultation looks like beyond agreements, how “ordinary” jobs in service, retail, startups, and mental health quietly prepared Janessa for high stakes leadership, and why motherhood continues to ground her work.
We also dive into truth and reconciliation, reflective leadership, and that familiar question so many women carry: “Am I doing enough?”—at work, at home, and for our communities. From bringing kids to conventions to co creating projects between Indigenous nations and mining companies, this is an honest, unscripted conversation about purpose, partnership, and possibility.
If you’re curious about women’s experiences in the resource sector, Indigenous–industry collaboration, or leading with both heart and strategy, this one’s for you.
