Peruvian Government: World Mining Congress 2026 Will Be a Strategic Milestone for the Country and the Global Industry

The Ministry of Energy and Mines highlighted that the event, to be held in June in Lima, will boost investment, strengthen strategic alliances, and position Peru as a key player in global mining.

The Peruvian government stated that hosting the World Mining Congress (WMC) 2026 in Lima will represent a strategic milestone of great importance for both the country and the global mining industry, consolidating Peru as a key player on the international stage of the sector.

The announcement was made by the Minister of Energy and Mines, Luis Bravo De La Cruz, during a meeting with Gustavo De Vinatea, General Manager of the Institute of Mining Engineers of Peru (IIMP), the organizing institution of the event, which will take place from June 24 to 26 and will bring together delegations from more than 50 countries.

The head of the Ministry of Energy and Mines (Minem) noted that WMC 2026 will drive new investments and foster strategic commercial alliances among governments, investors, and top mining industry executives, in a global context marked by the growing demand for critical minerals for global electrification.

He also emphasized that the congress will help strengthen Peru’s image as a reliable destination for mining investment, promoting the exchange of knowledge, technology, and innovation among the world’s leading industry players.

Copper-producing Peru

For his part, Gustavo De Vinatea подчеркed that Peru will once again host the World Mining Congress after 52 years, a fact that reaffirms the country’s position as a copper powerhouse and a member of the global mining elite.

WMC 2026 will be held under the theme “Mining for the Future: Trust, Transformation and Technology”, aiming to transform the way minerals are supplied at the speed the world demands. This gathering will coincide with the celebration of Inti Raymi, an ancestral festivity symbolizing new beginnings for the industry.
