Prospector Podcast – Keerit Jutla: AME BC’s Reveals Industry Insights: Mineral Exploration, Growth, and Future Prospects

 

 

 

 

 

In this episode, Michael Fox, the host of the Prospector Podcast is joined by Keerit Jutla the President of the Association of Mineral Exploration of British Columbia, to discuss the past year and the growth of the Association. Keerit shared that the Association now represents over 5,000 members, including those from across Canada and the mining and mineral exploration value chain. They also highlighted the strong uptake in membership and the Association’s efforts to champion the natural resource economy in BC.

 

AME BC’s Role in Mining Industry Evolution

 

Keerit discusses the evolution of the AME BC’s role as advocates for the mining industry, highlighting their increased engagement throughout the year. He also addressed the BC government’s attempt to unilaterally change the staking process, which led to a court decision and subsequent consultation. He expressed satisfaction with the current progress, noting that the government has promised not to reintroduce the Land Act amendments. He also mentioned his recent meetings with the membership and the importance of mineral exploration. Lastly, he discussed the recent change in the BC government, noting that the NDP government now seems more aware of the economy’s reliance on natural resources.

 

Establishing Ministry for Mines in BC

 

Keerit expressed his excitement about the establishment of a dedicated Ministry for Mines in British Columbia, led by Minister Jagrup Brar. He highlighted the importance of strong dirt ministries in the natural resources sector and his positive relationship with Minister Brar. Michael asked about concerns of British Columbia being a good place for mining investment. Keerit asserting that it has the best regulations and processes, and now has a dedicated ministry and minister. He emphasized the need for policymakers to engage with industry professionals to build sound policies.

 

Mining Industry Growth and Indigenous Relations

 

Keerit expressed his excitement about the future of mining and mineral exploration, emphasizing the need to overcome internal barriers and engage with indigenous communities. He highlighted BC’s pioneering policies and the potential for growth in the industry. Michael also discussed the importance of building direct bilateral relationships with indigenous nations for AME BC members and the upcoming Roundup event, the premier mining conference in Canada. He encouraged attendees to participate and learn about doing business in the mining industry.

 

Mining Industry Transformation and Networking

 

Keerit discussed his work with geologists, government officials, and 1st nations folk in the mining industry, highlighting its potential to transform remote communities. He recommended attending the Roundup conference for networking opportunities and encouraged everyone to support the industry, emphasizing the importance of mineral exploration. He also mentioned the Public Roundup Discovery Days event on the 19th, inviting everyone to bring their families.
