The prices of everything from oil to base and precious metals to grains dropped Friday in reaction to a significant rise in Treasury bond yields and the consequent rise of the U.S. dollar. CPM also discusses some of the mechanics of commodities futures, and how most futures market participants from hedgers to investors do not want physical commodities. They are buying exposure to commodity price changes, on a leveraged basis, uninterested in taking delivery.
