Physical Gold and Silver investors need to be pay attention to the construction of the quotes they get for coins, medallions, and bars. They also need to consider what prices and premia may be when it comes time for them to sell. Relative premia in May 2023, when investor demand is strong, do not reflect what the relative premia may be when investors want to sell.
In this video, CPM Group’s Jeffrey Christian, takes a deep dive into the fact that Comex prices represent ‘wholesale’ prices at which 1,000 ounce silver bars and 100 ounce gold bars actually trade, and that Comex prices are not ‘paper’ trades divorced from the physical market. He also discusses CPM Group’s current market outlook, and why investors may want to stand aside for the next 24-48 hours.
