CEA Applauds Trump Administration’s Nuclear Executive Orders

  • Streamlined permitting will accelerate U.S. advanced nuclear leadership
  • Orders will provide certainty to address growing AI, manufacturing energy demand

Consumer Energy Alliance (CEA), the leading energy and environmental advocate for families and businesses, today applauded the Trump Administration’s Executive Orders to expand nuclear energy production, which directs multiple federal agencies to streamline the approval and construction process for commercial and government advanced nuclear projects nationwide.

“These Executive Orders will expedite approval of critical advanced reactor projects, positioning America as a leader in nuclear energy,” said V.A. Stephens, Director of Texas Consumers for Nuclear Power (TCNP). “This will ensure our country has additional reliable baseload energy sources to address growing national energy needs while keeping us competitive in the global advanced nuclear race.”

The Orders streamline permitting for critical advanced nuclear research and project construction, and will allow nuclear developers and their customers – including AI companies, manufacturers and ordinary American families – much-needed certainty after years of worsening grid reliability from coast to coast. With electricity prices already increasing faster than the rate of inflation since 2022, and further increases expected due to growing population and burgeoning demand from AI expected to increase 165% by 2030, it’s safe to say that electricity bills will go up even more without new sources of electricity.

“These nuclear projects will fortify American baseload generation and will improve the security and affordability of our energy supply. The United States pioneered the use of nuclear energy; it is our responsibility to reassume leadership in innovation and development of this strategic energy resource. Now that the Trump Administration has taken this step, it is time for us to educate consumers across Texas and the U.S. about the crucial role that advanced nuclear will play in powering the economy in the coming decades,” said Stephens.

These orders are an important first step in reviving America’s nuclear energy industry to deliver affordable, reliable and cleaner energy for all Americans.
