Smartcool ECO3 & Tri-Caribbean Energy Gaining Traction in Barbados

Smartcool Systems Inc. (TSX-V:SSC) is excited to announce that Tri-Caribbean Energy) has been deploying the Smartcool ECO3 product as its lead energy conservation technology on a number of high profile projects across Barbados.

The Caribbean region is an ideal market for Smartcool’s ECO3 product because of the significant demand for climate control and the region’s dependence on power generated from imported fuel resulting in some of the highest electrical rates in the world; averaging approximately $0.39/kWh.

Smartcool resources working from its distribution support hub South Florida have successfully cooperated with the TCE head office located in Christ Church, Barbados when serving the Barbadian market. “The TCE and Smartcool collaboration is having great success using the Smartcool ECO3 to quickly reduce the electrical usage and operating expenses of many high profile hospitality, residential and industrial customers across Barbados” says TCE Executive VP & CFO, Edison Hinds.

Many of the new projects have been in the hospitality market, including the installation of Smartcool ECO3 on the air conditioning systems cooling a casino and Mangobay All-Inclusive Resort on the west coast of Barbados. TCE has also deployed the Smartcool ECO3 at a variety of luxury residences and commercial villas including the Trade Winds Luxury Villa in Sandy Lane Estates, also on the west coast of Barbados.

Continuing its focus on market verticals where Smartcool’s technology has a long history of great results. TCE recently completed an installation on the air conditioning systems cooling an industrial facility in St. Michael, Barbados – The Packaging Centre Ltd.

“TCE is excited by the progress that it has made to date and we have found that the Smartcool ECO3 is an ideal product to lead with as we position ourselves as a partner in helping our clients enhance their long-term profitability and to adhere to their corporate environmental policies.” explains Perry Douglas, President & CEO of Tri-Caribbean Energy.

“Tri-Caribbean Energy’s leadership team is very well connected across the region and Smartcool looks forward to assisting them in their efforts to duplicate their achievements in Barbados in many other markets across the Caribbean over the balance of 2015” states Chris Lefaivre, Smartcool Executive VP – Americas.
