Prospector News Publisher speaks with Chris Temple the publisher of the National Investor about finding value in Bear Markets. As the headwinds of 2022 don’t seem to be abating, its becoming more important to be an active rather than passive investor.
Markets tend to undergo major pivots and shifts during turbulent Bear Markets. Chris talks about how we are going to be facing Stagflation that hasn’t been see since the late 1970s and discusses the lessons we can learn from history. He discusses how the market is going to pivot from the Old FAANG stocks that have matured to the point that they trade more like utilities rather than tech stocks, into what he calls the NEW FAANG themes going forward.
Finally, we draw comparisons from the Dot Com bubble bursting at the turn of the century to today’s markets. We note that there were several companies that performed well into the bubble bursting (Shock troops) Which was followed by the returns that went into the companies that came post Bubble burst. Using energy as an example we discuss the value of the shock troops vs the group that follows.
