ORENINC INDEX up as financings pick up

 

 

 

 

 

ORENINC INDEX – Monday, January 18th 2021

The Oreninc Index increased in the week ending January 15th, 2021 to 70.38 from 54.05 a week ago as financings for 2021 are picking up.

 

The COVID-19 virus global death toll surpassed 2 million with almost 95 million cases reported worldwide. More and more countries are announcing an extension of the hard lockdown with increasing cases.

 

On to the money: the aggregate financings announced increased to $113.5 million, a 9-week high, with one new brokered financings and one new bought-deal financings announced. The average offer size decreased to $6 million, a 44-week  high, while the number of financings increased to 26.

 

Gold closed the week lower at $1,829/oz from $1,844/oz a week ago. The US dollar index closed higher at 90.88 from 90.10 a week ago.

 

The widely followed junior mining index, the VanEck managed GDXJ, closed the week down at $49.35 from $53.66 a week ago. HUI Arca Gold BUGS Index, which follows the major gold miners, closed the week higher at 284.53 from 302.48 last week. The SPDR GLD ETF inventory closed the week down at 1,177.63 tonnes, or 37.86 million ounces, from 1,182.11 tonnes last week.

 

In other commodities, Silver closed the week higher at $24.98/oz from $26.63/oz a week ago. Copper closed the week at $3.63/lb from $3.67/lb a week ago. Oil went down as WTI closed up at $52.48 a barrel from $52.24 a barrel a week ago.

 

The Dow Jones Industrial Average closed down at 30,814 from 31,087 a week ago. Canada’s S&P/TSX Composite Index closed down at 17,909 from 18,042 the previous week. The S&P/TSX Venture Composite Index closed up at 908.00 from 896.71 a week ago.

  • One bought-deal financing was announced this week for $93.5m, a 21-week high.
  • Total dollars increased to $165.6m, a 4-week high.
  • Average offer heightened to $6m, a 44-week high.

 

Major Financing Openings:

 

  • Americas Gold and Silver Corp. (TSX:USA) opened a $25 million offering underwritten by a syndicate led by Desjardins Capital Markets on a bought deal The deal is expected to close on or about January 29, 2021.
  • Nevada Copper Corp. (TSX:NCU) opened a $5 million offering underwritten by a syndicate led by Scotiabank on a bought deal basis. Each unit includes a 1/2 warrant that expires in 18 months. The deal is expected to close on or about January 29, 2021.
  • Nouveau Monde Graphite Inc. (TSX-V:NOU) opened a $20 million offering underwritten by a syndicate led by BMO Capital Markets on a bought deal The deal is expected to close on or about January 20, 2021.
  • Foran Mining Corp. (TSX-V:FOM) opened a $20 million offering underwritten by a syndicate led by PI Financial Corp. on a best efforts

 

Major Financing Closings:

 

  • Eclipse Gold Mining Corp. (TSX-V:EGLD) closed a $56 million offering underwritten by a syndicate led by Stifel GMP on a best efforts basis. Each unit includes a 1/2 warrant that expires in 24 months.
  • Rock Tech Lithium Inc. (TSX-V:RCK) closed a $4 million offering on a best efforts Each unit includes 1 warrant that expires in 24 months.
  • Tri Origin Exploration Ltd. (TSX-V:TOE) closed a $75 million offering on a best efforts basis.  Each unit includes 1 warrant that expires in 24 months. The deal is expected to close on or about January 8th, 2021.
  • Norseman Silver Inc. (TSX-V:NOC) closed a $75 million offering on a best efforts basis. The deal is expected to close on or about December 31, 2020.
