On to the money: the aggregate financings announced increased to $42 million, a 2-week high, with one new brokered financings and no new bought-deal financings announced. The average offer size increased to $1.9 million, a 4-week high, and the number of financings decreased to 22.
Gold closed the week lower at $1,970/oz from $1,977/oz a week ago. The US dollar index closed down at 102.28 from 103.56 a week ago.
The widely followed junior mining index, the VanEck-managed GDXJ, closed the week lower at $37.20 from $37.41 a week ago. HUI Arca Gold BUGS Index, which follows the major gold miners, closed the week lower at 241.34 from 242.97 last week.
In other commodities, Silver closed the week lower at $24.22/oz from $24.41/oz a week ago. Copper closed higher at $3.88/lb from $3.78/lb a week ago. Oil went lower as WTI closed higher at $71.80 a barrel from $70.17 a barrel a week ago.
The Dow Jones Industrial Average closed higher at 34,372 from 33,877 a week ago. Canada’s S&P/TSX Composite Index closed higher at 19,988 from 19,892 the previous week. The S&P/TSX Venture Composite Index closed higher at 611.92 from 610.32 a week ago.
