The Association for Mineral Exploration British Columbia’s annual conference, Mineral Exploration Roundup closes today. Although the cyclical nature of the commodity sector has been challenging for some junior explorers, the conference was the fourth most attended on record, attracting more than 6,700 participants from 35 countries. This is the first year that the 32^nd annual conference, the third largest annual trade convention in Vancouver, has been held in the Vancouver Convention Centre East.

Roundup Organizing Committee chair Kendra Johnston says, “This year’s Mineral Exploration Roundup conference has been a great success, thanks to fabulous sponsors, exhibitors, speakers, delegates and volunteers who are optimistic about the future of exploration in 2015 and beyond.”

Highlights from Mineral Exploration Roundup 2015 include the following:

• Premier Christy Clark’s announcement of a Major Mines Permitting Office to improve the coordination of major mine permits across government, increased funding of the Mining and Mineral Resources Division of the BC Ministry of Energy and Mines, and extension of the $10-million mining flow-through share tax credit program to the end of 2015
• Well-attended technical program along the lines of Intelligent Exploration, underscoring how innovation, determination and relationships with Aboriginal peoples and local communities are successfully advancing many projects
• Keynote presentations from Clive T. Johnson – CEO & Director, B2 Gold; David Harquail – President & CEO, Franco Nevada; Stephen McIntosh –  Global Head of Exploration, Rio Tinto; Bob Kelly – Vice President, Health and Safety, Teck Resources Limited; and Chuck Jeannes – CEO & President, Goldcorp Inc.
• Exhibit hall featuring 340 booths, up from 230 at previous conferences, that included Roundup’s trademark Core Shack, Map Tent and Prospectors’ Tent
