IMARC 2025: Supply chain, cost, and productivity imperatives loom large

A volatile and uncertain global economic landscape is challenging miners to innovate and adapt to position themselves for a future that promises materially stronger demand for minerals and metals. Never before have resilient supply chains, competitive costs and new efficiency levers been more essential.

Returning to the ICC Sydney from 21–23 October, the International Mining and Resources Conference + Expo (IMARC), organised by Beacon Events, will place these imperatives front and centre. The 2025 edition will unpack strategies for building robust supply networks, managing costs intelligently, and forging the alliances needed to deliver the minerals driving the world’s energy, technology, transport, and urban transformation.

“The calibre of leaders and the depth of both industry and government representation mean that real solutions to the many challenges in front of decision makers today can be found at IMARC,” said Sherene Asnasyous, Event Director – Content & Partnerships of IMARC.

“Our aim is to deliver practical, implementable strategies that drive measurable change.”

IMARC 2025 will highlight best practices and innovative approaches to cost management across mining operations, helping mining leaders make smarter, more sustainable decisions. It will also showcase cutting-edge technologies driving efficiency across exploration, mining, processing, and transport.

Featured speakers include senior representatives from organisations such as BHPRio TintoNewmontValePLSIdemitsuSouth32Huayou CobaltSandstorm Gold Royalties and more, exploring themes such as:

IMARC 2025 will not only spotlight the domestic industry but also provide international perspectives on supply chain resilience, funding and developing mines, building innovation ecosystems and stimulating cooperation and trade.

“As Australia’s International Mining Week, IMARC 2025 is a vital platform for the global mining community to engage, collaborate and exchange best practices,” said Anita Richards, Chief Operating Officer of Beacon Events. “With delegates from more than 120 countries, IMARC remains Australia’s leading mining event for fostering strategic partnerships, enhancing industry collaboration, and advancing sustainability and investment credentials across the sector.”

More than 10,500 attendees, including 50-plus government delegations, make IMARC one of Australia’s major international business events.

A new addition to the 2025 program, the Mining Operators Series is tailored for professionals working at the frontline of mining operations. Designed to address on-site challenges and showcase practical innovations, attendees can earn CPD points and gain access to technical sessions, exclusive networking events, and a guided exhibition tour. The program will help-site based teams connect with the latest tools, technologies, and solution providers transforming operational performance.

BHP mine projects superintendent Ben Edwards, who will be part of IMARC’s Mining Operators Series, says this new addition to the program is valuable.

“Conversations about what really happens on site and what is important to sites and operations are needed at large conferences like IMARC,” he says.

“A conference like IMARC that can bring executives and company leaders together with onsite leaders and subject matter experts, hearing largely unfiltered information about what matters most, is very valuable.”

Also new for 2025, IMARC’s Innovation & Investment Alley will spotlight cutting-edge, university-developed mining technologies with real potential to reshape the industry. This dedicated zone connects early-stage innovations with investors, miners, venture capitalists, and industry leaders accelerating the path from breakthrough research to commercial application.
