ADP Canada National Employment Report: Employment in Canada Decreased by 294,200 Jobs in June 2021

 

 

 

 

 

4,600 jobs lost in the mining industry in June

 

Employment in Canada decreased by 294,200 jobs from May to June according to the June ADP® Canada National Employment Report.  Broadly distributed to the public each month, free of charge, the ADP Canada National Employment Report is produced by the ADP Research Institute®.  The report, which is derived from actual ADP payroll data, measures the change in total nonfarm payroll employment each month on a seasonally-adjusted basis.

“In June, the labour market reported a decrease in jobs, marking the second straight month of declines,” said Nela Richardson, chief economist, ADP. “While manufacturing and construction recorded gains, the service sector took on the majority of job losses, primarily in industries heavily affected by COVID-19 related restrictions.”

 

 

The May total of jobs added was revised from 101,600 to -318,700.

 

 

The July 2021 ADP Canada National Employment Report will be released at 8:30a.m.ET on August 19, 2021.
