Industry Analysts
Rod Blake

Rod was born in Montreal and through a series of moves spent most of his youth growing up as the step son of prominent Vancouver Stock Exchange financier/promoter Martin Gibbeson. This life-style encouraged an interest in mining exploration which led to a mining diploma from the B.C. Institute of Technology in 1971. From there, Rod played a key role within a group headed by renowned mine builder Chester Millar, who discovered the famous ‘Afton’ native copper mine near Kamloops B.C.

After seeing Afton progress through to production, Rod tried his hand in business product development and sales before completing the Canadian Securities Course and joining Canaccord in Vancouver as an investment advisor in 1986, where he remains today. Rod likes to think he takes a broad view of the investment industry while feeling most comfortable evaluating mineral resource projects. Rod believes that the diversified and healthy Canadian economy provides an excellent opportunity for investment.

The Critical Investor

The Critical Investor is a newsletter and comprehensive junior mining platform, providing analysis, blog and news feed and all sorts of information about junior mining. The editor is an avid and critical junior mining stock investor from The Netherlands, with an MSc background in construction/project management. Number cruncher at project economics, looking for high quality companies, mostly growth/turnaround/catalyst-driven to avoid too much dependence/influence of long-term commodity pricing/market sentiments, and often looking for long-term deep value. Getting burned in the past himself at junior mining investments by following overly positive sources that more often than not avoided to mention (hidden) risks or critical flaws, The Critical Investor learned his lesson well, and goes a few steps further ever since, providing a fresh, more in-depth, and critical vision on things, hence the name.

A dynamic, much-in-demand speaker all over the globe, David’s educational mission also makes him a prolific author having penned “Get the Skinny on Silver Investing” available as an e-book or through Amazon.com. David O’Brien

I’m not a geo, and likely neither are you; I’m not a financial advisor, so do your Due Diligence!

I AM a scientist, researching, analyzing and writing some original material. I often present items I believe to be credible ‘facts’, which may subsequently be proven, or not.

Covering the ‘Energy Metals & Materials’; copper for 21 years, graphite for 9, lithium for 7, and cobalt for 3.

Recently, my ongoing precious metals coverage on gold and silver now includes the Platinum Group Metals.

Gwen Preston

Gwen Preston is the Resource Maven. After almost a decade in the sector as a journalist, in 2014 Gwen saw mining at a bottom and decided to launch an independent letter chronicling her thoughts, buys, and sells in the world of mineral exploration, development, and mining. Gwen has a strong network of contacts, more than ten years of site visits and due diligence under her belt, a solid grasp of macroeconomics and how they shape metals price moves, and a track record of finding opportunity and managing risk in the metals and mining sector.

Jordan Roy – Byrne

Jordan Roy-Byrne, CMT, MFTA is the editor and publisher of TheDailyGold.com and TheDailyGold Premium, a premium publication which emphasizes market timing and stock selection for precious metals investors. David Smith

David H. Smith is Senior Analyst at themorganreport.com – a regular contributor to moneymetals.com – and a Ghost Writer. He has investigated resource sector mines and exploration sites in Argentina, Chile, Bolivia, Peru, Mexico, China, Canada, and the U.S. He shares his findings and investment perspectives with readers, the media, and North American investment conference audiences.

David is active in the blockchain currency-digital metals-token space. It is his belief that the advent of a digital silver trading vehicle – fully backed by and redeemable upon demand for physical silver -will close the historic loop which began with silver as money, transitioned into fiat (un-backed) “paper promises” – and will now return silver (and gold) to their rightful place…as honest money.

Lobo Tiggre, aka Louis James

Lobo Tiggre is the founder and CEO of Louis James LLC, and the principal analyst and editor of the Independent Speculator. He researched and recommended speculative opportunities in Casey Research publications from 2004 to 2018, writing under the name “Louis James.” While with Casey Research, he learned the ins and outs of resource speculation from the legendary speculator Doug Casey.

Although frequently mistaken for one, Mr. Tiggre is not a professional geologist. However, his long tutelage under world-class geologists, writers, and investors resulted in an exceptional track record. The average of the yearly gains published for the flagship Casey publication, the International Speculator, was 18.5% per year during Tiggre’s time with the publication.

A fully transparent, documented, and verifiable track record is a central feature of IndependentSpeculator.com services going forward. Another key feature is that Mr. Tiggre will put his own money into the speculations he writes about, so his readers will always know he has “skin in the game” with them.
