Michael Fox of the Prospector Podcast sits down with Barry O’Shea of Highland Copper (TSX-V: HI) (OTCQB: HDRSF) at the Mining and Energy Expo in Minneapolis for an update on the fully permitted Copperwood Project in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula. Highland Copper is advancing an updated feasibility study targeted for the first half of 2027, incorporating higher copper-price assumptions, ultrafine flotation technology that demonstrated an approximately two-percentage-point recovery improvement, and potential mine-plan optimization. The company has received a $50 million Michigan infrastructure grant and a $250 million letter of interest from the U.S. Export-Import Bank, strengthening the financing pathway for a potential 2027 construction decision and 2028 groundbreaking. Copperwood is envisioned as a mid-sized underground copper mine and concentrator producing approximately 30,000 tonnes, or 70 million pounds, of copper annually, with first production targeted for 2030.
