CPM Group is a New York-based, fully independent research and consulting company focusing on precious metals and commodities markets. It has been serving its clients for more than 35 years, and its interest in the use of metals in batteries goes even further: in 1980 the founder and current managing partner of CPM, Jeffery Christian published the “World Guide to Battery-Powered Road Transportation”, a unique publication at the time. CPM Group research comes from the solid metals and mining and investment banking background of its team members. Through its deep involvement in the platinum group metals used in catalytic converters, CPM closely followed the developments in the motor industry. Its battery metals expertise is a natural extension of this work. Andrew Zemek has been working for CPM Group since 2018, covering speciality metals, with a particular focus on manganese. He leads the bespoke research on manganese use in batteries for CPM’s clients. Andrew has over 35 years of practical experience in the metals and mining industry, having been in an executive, non-executive, and consulting roles in exploration, mining, and processing companies in commodities such as copper, silver and gold, lead and zinc, tantalum and molybdenum. In the past, he was a contributor to the Mining Journal and worked with international and governmental organisations such as UNCTAD, UNEP, US DoE, and others. He is based in London, UK.
