This Week on The CSE – Week of Nov 27 – Dec 1, 2017

As the week begins we are reminded that on November 30, 1924, RCA carries out the first successful wireless transmission of photographs by radio from London, England, to New York, United States. The wireless transmission was made possible through the use of technology developed by Canadian inventor William Stephenson.

The photographs transmitted by radio feature individuals, government documents, and a short text with a Chinese proverb meaning “a picture is worth a thousand words.”

William Stephenson invented the wirephoto, a radio facsimile method of transmitting pictures without telephone or telegraph wires (the precursor to the fax!), while an engineering student at the University of Manitoba.

The purpose of the Pilot Plant, designed to process 100 kg/hr of serpentinite tailings, is two-fold: (1) to gather engineering data in order to design, build and operate a commercial 30,000 metric ton per year MgO production facility in Southeastern Quebec; and, (2) to generate MgO and amorphous silica for qualification purposes by third parties, including potential customers, for establishing offtake agreements.

Future Farm Technologies Inc. (CSE: FFT) (OTCQB: FFRMF) continues its growth by announcing that it has closed an acquisition of a 120-acre industrial hemp farm in Amity, ME.  With this acquisition, Future Farm is now strategically positioned in both the fast-growing hemp market as well as the cannabis market. The company expects to harvest 1,700 plants per acre of the 120-acre farm, which translates into approximately 10-kilos of CBD distillate per acre, which further translates into $90,000 per acre in revenue, or on 120-acres a projected revenue of $10,800,000.00.  With Maine’s current favorable economic climate for hemp in place, the Company is moving aggressively to acquire more land.

Dundee Sustainable Technologies Inc. (CSE: DST) is pleased to announce that the United States Patent and Trademark Office has recently issued a notice of allowance for DST’s patent application number 15/086,399 pertaining to “A Method and Composition for Sequestration of Arsenic”.  The technology for which a notice of allowance has been issued is designed for the sequestration of arsenic in a more stable glass form, at lower cost while compared with current industrial practices such as the stabilization of arsenic by hydrated iron arsenate. DST’s Arsenic Vitrification Technology is becoming an attractive technique to segregate the toxic material and is therefore opening opportunities for deposits or concentrates considered to contain too much arsenic to be exploited using conventional approaches.

SHARC International Systems Inc.  (CSE: SHRC) (FSE: IWIA) (OTCQB: INTWF)   has won for the Best Innovation Award at the Scottish Green Energy Awards for its wastewater heat exchange system

at Borders College, Galashiels, which was launched in 2015.

SHARC’s wastewater heat exchange system works by intercepting wastewater from the adjacent town sewer line operated by Scottish Water. SHARC™ technology extracts the natural warmth contained within wastewater and transfers the heat to the clean side of the heating system via a heat exchanger. The recovered heat is then amplified via heat pumps to generate the appropriate temperatures for use in buildings. It supplies the college campus with the majority of its annual heating and hot water demand, enabling it to save 150 tonnes of carbon per annum.  The heat produced is sold to Borders College under a 20-year purchase agreement, producing savings in energy, costs and carbon emissions.

The innovative scheme is the first of its kind in the UK and the first time the technology has been integrated with the public sewerage system.

For the week the CSE Index continues its upward movement from 1040.30 to 1100.33.

Beleave Chief Science Officer Roger Ferreira, “Our message is simply that cannabis should be used responsibly. Impaired driving, which includes driving under the influence of cannabis, is illegal. However, there is a segment of the population that may be unaware of this or feel they are more attentive drivers after consuming cannabis. Our intention is to inform all drivers of the facts in an effective and memorable way.”
